It might be spring, but the mornings and nights are still cold enough to make it hard to get out of your oh-so-warm bed.  Don’t fight it – make the most of these last cool days by snuggling up with a great flick.

Here are 10 of our favourite movies to watch in bed:

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

A comedy of youth in revolt where a high school wise guy, Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick), is determined to take a day off from school – despite what shenanigans unfold.

Definitely a classic – and no matter how many times you watch it, there’s always that one quote or scene that keeps pulling you back.

The Royal Tenenbaums

A warped fairy tale about an estranged – and unusual - family that reunites when their father announces he is terminally ill.

Directed by Wes Anderson, who most recently released The Grand Budapest Hotel, his movies are loved by young and old for their heartwarming and quirky storylines. This is one flick that will make you laugh and cry, so bring your tissues.

Almost Famous

If you haven’t already sold your soul to rock and roll, this movie should seal the deal. Almost Famous is about a high school boy who is given the chance to write a story for Rolling Stone Magazine about a rising band he accompanies on tour.

Loosely based on the formative years of acclaimed rock journalist-turned-filmmaker Cameron Crowe, this film is not just a nostalgia trip – but one that wears its heart on its sleeve.

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial

No one can get past this Steven Spielberg pick. Standing the test of time, E.T. The Extraterrestrial tells the story of a young boy who discovers a friendly alien and helps him to escape Earth and return to his home world.

This sci-fi adventure is a mainstay for most kids growing up, but this flick has something for everyone – no matter what your age.

Back To The Future

Could anything be more fun than Back To The Future? A movie about a teenager that accidentally travels back in time using a DeLorean invented by his friend, ‘Doc’ Emmett Brown, to save his own existence. Starring Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd as the unlikely duo, this fusion of sci-fi, action, romance and comedy is now an institution for many – securing it a spot in this top 10.

Ghostbusters stands out as one of the best comedy, pseudo-horror films ever. Following three parapsychology professors, it shows you how the trio go from being unexpectedly unemployed to running their own unique ghost removal service.

Starring the hilarious comedy team of Bill Murray (Dr Peter Venkman), Dan Akroyd (Dr Raymond Stantz) and Harold Ramis (Dr Egon Spengler) – their timing is second to none – with the jokes hitting hard from beginning to end.

High Fidelity

This romantic comedy follows Rob Gordon (John Cusack), a Chicago-based record store owner and compulsive list maker, as he recounts his top five break-ups – following a recent traumatic end to a long-term relationship.

Full of great pop culture references, the film also features a very young Jack Black, a spot-on soundtrack and laugh-out-loud moments – as well as a little introspection.

The Princess Bride

Heroes, giants, villains, wizards, true love – this is one tale that has it all. This 1988 classic is about a young boy who, while home sick, is read a story called The Princess Bride by his grandfather.

Enchanting viewers from start-to-finish, this fantastic adventure is great for children and ‘big kids’ alike with a blend of humour that appeals to all.

An off-the-wall romance that leaves you wanting more, Amelie ticks all the right boxes for those who fancy a dash of warmth and humour – with a few quirks added for good measure.

Amelie is an innocent and naive girl in Paris with her own sense of justice. She decides to help those around her and, along the way, discovers love in a very unusual situation. The gorgeous Audrey Tautou plays Amelie Poulain, who gives us an insight into her overactive imagination.

Lord Of The Rings Trilogy

If you’re game for an all day movie binge, take on the complete Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Not for the faint-hearted, this trio is definitely for die-hard fans of fantasy, action and adventure.
