What does the bedroom mean to you?

Bedshed asked exactly this question after partnering up with two amazing women and their families for a behind-the-scenes look at how they use the bedroom in their daily lives.

What we got was two very different answers - and we weren’t surprised! We’ve learned that everyone has their own unique take on the bedroom, because truthfully - no one uses the bedroom quite like you do!

@themabeys_ Charlotte Melbourne Mum

The bedroom is a space we use every day, in one way or another.

Coffee
Our daily routine involves a warm cuppa in bed...
Popcorn
Family movie nights in the bedroom are my favourite way to utilise the space.
Weights
While the kids are at school the space transforms into a home office and gym.
Book
At the end of the day, it’s time to unwind.

Charlotte’s pick for a multi-use bedroom:

Who are the Mabey’s, you ask? We are a family of five, living in Metro Melbourne. Three years ago, we moved our lives across the pond from the UK and have been living here ever since.

Our family includes myself (Charlotte), my husband Scott, and our three children, Cameron, Sienna and Eli. Despite the challenges of the last few years, we have been living life to the fullest here in Melbourne, sharing our experiences as we go across our social media platforms.

From fun family days out, to reviews of toys, clothing, and homewares, we love to showcase the amazing products that Australia has to offer!

Occasionally, our bedroom acts as a calming wind-down space, a space to lay down and escape the stresses of life for a few minutes. However, as a busy family, long gone are the days of quiet Sunday lay ins. Our bedroom space has now transformed into an area for a variety of different activities. Alternative names for our bedroom include Movie Theatre, Office, Dining Room and Gym, it is a multipurpose room that serves the whole family!

The bedroom is a space we use every day, in one way or another. Our daily routine involves a warm cuppa in bed before the hustle and bustle of parent/work life kicks in. While the kids are at school, the space transforms into a home office and gym; particularly in recent times while many of us having started to work from home. It’s great to have a multipurpose space, it allows me to slot in a quick workout in my spare time.

Family movie nights in the bedroom are my favourite way to utilise the space. The whole family gets together for some quality time, with popcorn of course, we just ignore the trail of crumbs the kids leave behind.

At the end of the day, it’s time to unwind. We light a few candles, read a book, recharge, and go to sleep ready for the next day to unfold.

Christina’s pick for the girls' shared bedroom:

I'm Christina – a lifestyle and parenting blogger from Sydney, proud mum to two beautiful children, Madison (8) and Macie (6), and wife to my amazing husband.

I love this crazy online world where I can let my creativity flow with my blog while making memories with my family. I created Made for Madison to share parenting and lifestyle tips while reviewing brands and products and I’m so thankful for the world of social media for giving my girls and I the opportunities to try out new, exciting experiences!

My girls are my world. Madison is crafty and creative, with a sharp mind beyond her years, she’s a wicked problem solver! Macie loves fashion, she’s a typical “girly-girl” and always takes on the kind and caring “mummy” role. Despite their different interests, they love sharing their bedroom. It’s their sanctuary, a place to sit and read and chat for hours together (especially when I say bedtime 🤣).

We recently refreshed their room with a new floor, fresh paint and the most exciting bit, a bunk bed! The girls are SO excited with many ideas and I’ve decided to be brave enough to give them free reign on the decorating!
