Toppling Furniture Safety

WARNING! Freestanding bedroom furniture 500mm and over in height can become unstable and pose a serious risk, such as injury or death, especially to children. To minimise the danger of tipping:

  • Avoid placing objects that may tempt children to climb, such as toys or televisions, on bedroom furniture surfaces, such as dressing tables and tallboys.
  • Be cautious with placement—carpet, uneven flooring, and excessive force can increase the instability of furniture items.
  • Secure tallboys, chests, dressers, and bedsides to a wall using the provided fixing device, ideally installed by a qualified tradesperson.
  • Prevent accidents by not opening multiple drawers at once, allowing children to climb, or putting pressure on open drawers.

Safety Tips:

  • Always secure furniture by attaching, bolting, or mounting it to walls or floors.
  • Always avoid placing heavy items on top shelves and drawers.
  • Do not allow children to climb on furniture.
  • Never place tempting objects, such as toys, on furniture surfaces, as this may encourage children to climb and attempt to reach them. Never put a TV on furniture.
  • Place furniture carefully, and do not place unstable furniture near where children play.
  • Install locking devices on all drawers to prevent children from opening them and using them as steps.
  • Never open more than one drawer at a time.
Bunk Beds

To ensure safety while using a bunk bed, it's crucial to follow proper guidelines, as improper use can lead to serious injuries, with falls being the most common cause.

Please consider these important precautions to avoid accidents:

  • Choose a mattress that correctly fits the upper bunk bed.
  • While the appropriate age for bunk bed use depends on a child's maturity and development, it is generally advised that children under nine years of age should not sleep in the top bunk.
  • Assemble the bed carefully, securing guardrails on all four sides of the top bunk with proper spacing for access openings.
  • Regularly inspect connections and fasteners to confirm they remain strong and secure, preventing the risk of collapse.
  • Keep the area around the bunk bed free from blind and curtain cords, heaters, lights, and ceiling fans.
  • Supervise children when they use the ladder and ensure young children do not attempt to climb the ladder on their own, while unsupervised.

Are all products on the website available for purchase?

Yes, however availability may vary between stores. Upon putting in your postcode you will be shown stores with stock near your location.

Certain products, such as the Mix & Match Infinity range are only available for in store purchase.

How do I make a change to my order once it has been placed?

Once your order has been placed all queries must be made directly with the store listed on your order confirmation.

Who do I contact if I have a question regarding purchasing online?

Are my details secure?

All payments are securely processed over HTTPS and your card information never touches our servers. All payment processing is done by Commonwealth Bank of Australia Simplify Commerce Portal. All details are sent over SSL, which is a 2048-bit RSA-encrypted channel.

What forms of payment do you accept for online orders?

We accept the following forms of payment:

Will you assemble my new furniture for me?

If your purchase requires assembly, you will have the ability to add assembly service to your order at time of purchase. This fee is based upon the complexity of the product and time required to assemble. If you decide after you place your order that you'd like assembly service added, you can contact the store fulfilling your order to add this.

Can I pick up my online order from a store?

You can! If you select 'Click & Collect' at checkout the selected store will contact you within 24 hours to arrange a time to collect your goods. Please note collection times may vary as certain items may need to be sourced from external warehouses.

Upon collection you must provide:

  • A valid photo ID (passport, drivers license) matching the authorised person's details as listed on this email.
  • This order confirmation email either on your mobile phone or printed out.
  • The credit card you used to pay for the order.

Which delivery method is right for me?

It depends on how quickly you need your new bed and the level of service you prefer.

  • Express Next-Day Delivery is perfect if you need your new mattress quickly. We’ll deliver to your front door as soon as the next business day on selected Dreamsense, Insignia, Kingsdown and Drift mattresses.
  • Standard Delivery offers a full-service experience; our two-person team will deliver to your room of choice, remove the packaging and can even assemble your new bed for you.

Whichever you choose, you’ll get the same trusted Bedshed brands, comfort guarantee and expert service.

How will my order be delivered?

Our Standard Delivery service involves a two-man delivery, and the goods are taken to the room of your choice. Express Next Day Delivery will deliver your mattress to your door.

If you purchase only smaller linen items and accessories, your order will be delivered via Australia Post. If you purchase bulky furniture items, your entire order will be delivered via truck. We do not split deliveries, so if you purchase pillows, etc., as well as furniture, all items will be delivered at the same time via truck.

Can I get Express delivery if I order Dreamsense, Insignia, Kingsdown and Drift mattresses and/or bases together?

Dreamsense, Insignia and Kingsdown Express mattresses and bases can be ordered together for Express next day delivery, as these are manufactured by the same supplier.

Drift Express mattresses and bases are manufactured by different supplier, therefore they can not be combined with Dreamsense, Insignia or Kingsdown Express items, under Express Delivery. Drift Mattresses and bases can only be delivered on their own under Express delivery.

If you place an Express order that includes Drift with a Dreamsense, Insignia and/or a Kingsdown item, your order will divert to standard delivery. 

If your Dreamsense, Insignia, Kingsdown or Drift Express mattress or base online order contains additional product(s) – that are not eligible for Bedshed Express delivery, this order will also revert to standard delivery times and no longer fall under the Bedshed Express delivery service.

Do you remove and dispose of the mattress package upon delivery?

Our Standard Delivery includes this service if you would like your mattress unbagged at that time. Express Next Day Delivery does not provide this service, as the delivery is only to the door of your home.

Is next-day delivery available in my area?

Express delivery is available across metro areas, with selected postcodes eligible for next-day service.

At checkout, simply enter your address. If Express Delivery is available, you’ll see the option appear alongside Collection and our Standard Delivery options.

Orders placed before 4pm AEST are confirmed the same day for delivery on the next business day.

Can I choose a specific delivery time?

We’ll do our best to find a time that works for you. Once your order is confirmed, our delivery team will contact you to schedule a convenient delivery window.

Please note that Express deliveries are made throughout the day and can’t be assigned an exact delivery time due to routing and availability.

What happens if I’m unavailable for delivery?

If you’re not home at the agreed delivery time, our team will contact you to reschedule.

A re-delivery fee may apply depending on your location and service type.

To avoid any delays, ensure that the delivery address and contact details you provide at checkout are accurate, and that someone will be home to receive your order.

Are all mattresses eligible for quick delivery?

No, only selected Dreamsense, Insignia, Kingsdown and Drift mattresses are eligible for Express delivery. Look for the Express icon on the product page, as this indicates that the mattress can be delivered next-day*. Adding an eligible Express delivery mattress protector will also keep your order eligible for Express delivery.

If your order includes products that aren’t eligible for Express Delivery (such as bed frames or bedroom furniture), Express Delivery won’t be available at checkout, and standard delivery options will apply to the entire order.

How should I care for my new mattress after it is delivered?

Allow your new mattress a few hours to air out and settle into its full shape once unwrapped.

Buying a mattress protector is a great way to keep it clean and protected, and it gives you peace of mind with our 60 Night Comfort Guarantee.

For lasting comfort, rotate your mattress every 3–6 months unless the care label suggests otherwise. And if you ever have concerns about your comfort, our team is here to help. Better sleep is what we’re all about.

Can I have my order delivered to a PO Box?

Unfortunately, we do not deliver to PO Boxes. The delivery address must be a physical location.

How much does delivery cost?

When you purchase direct from a store delivery fee is dependent on that store’s delivery conditions.

When you purchase online, delivery costs are dependent on the type of items you purchase, as well as the delivery distance.

What are your delivery days?

We deliver most days of the week, however delivery days will vary by store and delivery timing will depend on the availability of the items purchased. Once you place your order a staff member will be in contact to discuss delivery with you.

Do you deliver to my area?

We deliver to most locations across Australia. If you are located 75km or less away from the store of your choice, you will be advised of delivery timeframes and fees at checkout. If you are further than 75km away from our stores, your order will be processed as an online quote and the store will directly be in contact with you to confirm the exact location and to finalise the order by taking full payment inclusive of the quoted delivery fees.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Delivery times are subject to the stock availability of the product you wish to purchase. As you add items to your cart the estimated stock availability and delivery timeframes of those items will be displayed from your three nearest stores at the checkout, or this information can also be viewed on the product page by clicking the ‘check stock availability’ icon.

An express delivery banner icon will also appear below selective product images to stipulate exclusive products that are available for Express next-day delivery – alternatively, you can view our range of selected products available for next-day delivery here.

Please be mindful that occasionally delivery timeframes may vary depending on unexpected external factors, such as freight delays, although the store will communicate this information to you at their earliest convenience.

Can I have my order delivered to a PO Box?

Is mattress removal available?

At Bedshed, we acknowledge the importance of sustainability and its environmental impacts. While removing your old mattress is at the discretion of each store and may involve an additional fee, we encourage you to consider Soft Landing’s mattress recycling services in Australia if your store does not offer this option. Soft Landing provides collection and pickup services across WA, NSW, ACT, and VIC, with plans to expand to more areas in the foreseeable future. If you reside outside these regions, note that some local councils are implementing mattress recycling programs. Contact your local council to find out more. For further details, visit Soft Landing's website or contact your nearest Bedshed store for additional options.

Does someone need to be home to take receipt of my large item delivery?

Yes. A person over the age of 18 years is required to receive the items delivered by our team. Ideally the individual name on the order will be available to receive the delivery, particularly if you've paid by credit card.

Where this is not possible the person receiving the order may need to:

  • Provide proof of identity, as well as the credit card used for payment.
  • Provide proof of consent to receive the order.

If we deliver your items at the agreed day and time and a suitable person is not available to receive the items, we will be unable to deliver the order and we'll endeavour to contact you to arrange re-delivery. Please note that an additional delivery fee for the replacement delivery may apply.

Do you remove and dispose of the mattress packaging upon delivery?

Removal of the packaging is included in delivery if you would like your mattress unbagged at that time.

Do you remove and dispose of furniture packaging upon delivery?

Yes, if you have purchased assembly service we will unbox your furniture and remove the packaging for you. If you have not purchased assembly service we will deliver the boxes to the room of your choice.

What if I need help getting my mattress or furniture delivered to a bedroom on the second level?

During the checkout process, we will ask numerous questions that will determine the complexity of the location to which your purchase needs to be delivered to. For all standard deliveries, no additional fees for upstairs delivery are required, although for express deliveries the courier will only deliver to your door. Please ensure that the pathway to the delivery area is clear, and that the products you have ordered fit through stairs, gaps, and doorways!

What do I need to do prior to my order being delivered?

Please ensure that we will have unobstructed access to your property, and that any fragile objects are moved out of the way of the delivery area. If assembly is required, please ensure that our team have enough space to work in.

What if I need to cancel my order?

Stock is not always held on hand and once an order is placed with the manufacturer it is then made specifically for you. What if I want a refund on my order after it's delivered?

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be acceptable quality and the failure does not amount of a major failure. We do not refund for change of mind. However, if you have completed eligibility for our 60 Night Comfort Guarantee you may be able to swap your mattress - please see below.

The mattress I ordered is not right, what can I do?
