Awaken to a new day rested and refreshed, after a perfect night sleep with your adjustable base
Adjustable bases are designed to position your body perfectly for sleep, so you awake to a new day rested and refreshed.
There are numerous lifestyle and health benefits of pairing your mattress with an adjustable base.
Have you ever fallen asleep in a recliner lounge chair, adjusted an aeroplane seat or adjusted your driver’s seat in your car? These are everyday examples of how we adjust our support in our everyday lives for our body’s comfort. It is not only your sleep quality that improves with an adjustable base – but also your lifestyle. You can raise the head position more upright to be more comfortable while:
- Watching TV
- Working on your laptop
- Using your smartphone
- Reading your favourite novel
- Breast feeding your baby
Have you ever woken with a stiff back or neck? You’re not alone. 80% of people who have completed our Mattress Selector tool indicated that they don’t sleep comfortably in bed. If this is you, it would be worth considering an adjustable base and mattress?
Conventional mattresses may struggle to contour perfectly to your body shape because our bodies are naturally curved. With an adjustable base you can position your mattress in a way that supports and conforms to your body, guaranteeing a better night’s sleep. An adjustable bed offers many health benefits:
Optimum spinal alignment
You can position the base to elevate or incline your upper and lower body working towards optimum-spinal alignment. This elevation can also reduce muscle and joint strain by taking pressure off the body, so the muscles and joints are not under stress for long periods of time, which can lead to muscle fatigue. Some models also include a massage feature that further assists in nurturing a tired body.
By elevating the feet higher than the heart, helps blood circulation to the upper portion of the body where the vital organs (heart, brain, and lungs) are located. This position, referred to as Zero-G position, also assists with your breathing, by increasing the capacity for lung expansion. Increased circulation also reduces pressure on the rest of your body, leading to reduced swelling in the legs and feet, less back pain and more restful periods of sleep each night.
Relieve pressure points and aches
The Zero G position also provides pressure relief for the coccyx bone. Adjusting your sleep position away from flat relieves pressure off hips and shoulders for side sleepers, while back sleepers will feel reduced pressure on their spinal column, back and leg muscles.
An adjustable bed allows you to elevate your head and neck position to open up restricted airways, so there is no pressure on your throat, nose or chest, thus reducing snoring! Improved sleep for the snorer AND their partner!
Another benefit of being able to sleep in a more elevated position is the reduction of acid reflux – commonly referred to as heartburn. Sleeping in an upright position means the acid in your stomach is more likely to remain in the stomach rather than rising up, which is what causes pain. This also replaces the need for multiple pillows to prop you up in bed.
Some more handy benefits
Find fitted sheets frustrating when making your bed?
By lifting the head and the feet of the mattress, a fitted sheet can be placed over the 4 corners of the mattress, and then flattened out to complete the fit, removing any manual lifting when making the bed!
An adjustable base can also make it easier to get in and out of bed.
If you struggle to get in and out of bed in the flat position, a head tilt may assist in getting upright and moving out of bed.
Pair your adjustable base with a designer piece of furniture.
There are varied adjustable base options now that may allow an adjustable base to sit inside your bed frame, or alternatively a slimline base that will sit on top of your bed frame. Ask in store for details.
